I love taking a day to put up Christmas decorations (and to pretend I have some homemaking skills) and this year I got to decorate our first house! It’s always fun going through past decorations and finding sentimental gems (like dust bunnies and spiders) that were packed away. I wanted a few more decor pieces this year to add to our past ones. However, I wanted to keep it simple and cozy, and without spending a small fortune of course, so I jumped on Pinterest to get some ideas. It’s in my artsy blood to constantly shake things up and love using my home as a canvas. (Sharing more of our Living Room, Dining Room Nook and Guest Sun Room below)
Forever in love with our couch that we found on Sofamania (it was risky buying a couch online but the quality was even better than I imagined!)
Obsessed with these little bottle brush trees from Hobby Lobby and were only a few dollars a piece! I love how they tie in the colors of our living room while giving it a nostalgic feel. I also strung up a strand of lights under the record wall and it reminded Brandon and I of Stranger Things haha (TV show, in case that went over some heads lol) which sold me on that idea.
For the dining room nook, I found a flocked wreath on sale for $15 at Michaels, and made my first homemade bow in buffalo check to attach to it (We won’t discuss how long that took me). I love the farmhouse feel of this trendy ribbon so I also draped it all around our pencil tree and made another bow for our coffee table center piece (see below).
In the guest sun room/my office I added some garland with lights to the pallet bed and a mini flocked tree to my desk. I still have lots of ideas for this room but it’s coming along. (Peep our DIY pallet shoe rack by the back door that was Brandon’s genius idea!)
I always love nostalgic touches and making a home cozy, my number one goal. So, now I’m gonna snuggle up on the couch, put on some Bing Crosby and drink some hot cocoa…
